“Ambassadors of Bulgarian Heritage” Scholarship

The Ambassadors of Bulgarian Heritage Scholarship is dedicated to empowering young Bulgarians who are passionate about celebrating and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Bulgaria. This scholarship seeks applicants who not only take pride in their Bulgarian identity but are actively committed to deepening global understanding of our traditions, history, language, and values. Whether through academic projects, community outreach, creative expression, digital media, or cultural exchange, we welcome students who demonstrate a clear vision and concrete actions toward sharing the story of Bulgaria with the world.

Applicants must:

• Be of Bulgarian descent or hold Bulgarian citizenship
• Be a California resident
• Be currently enrolled in 8th grade, high school, or college
• Demonstrate involvement in, or a clear plan for, activities that promote or preserve Bulgarian heritage locally or internationally
• Not have received this scholarship within the past two (2) years

We are looking for young cultural ambassadors—those who carry Bulgaria in their hearts and express it through their actions. Whether you are organizing folk dance workshops, running a social media page about Bulgarian history, writing poetry in Bulgarian, or volunteering in your local Bulgarian community—your dedication can help inspire others to connect with our heritage.

Through this scholarship, we aim to support individuals who see themselves as bridges between Bulgaria and the world—those who understand that identity is not only inherited but actively shaped. By sharing your passion and taking initiative, you become a storyteller of our nation—keeping our cultural flame alive and helping others see the beauty of Bulgaria through your eyes.

College Scholarship

• Amount – $1000
• Eligibility: High school seniors or college students of Bulgarian descent
• Application Requirements:
  • A 100-word response to “Каква е връзката ми с България?” (Имате ли родител, който е българин; изучавате ли или говорите български език;  живели ли сте ли България)
  • A 500-word response in Bulgarian to the prompt:
     „Как смятам да поддържам българските си корени живи докато съм студент?“
  • Current transcript (official or unofficial)

High School Scholarship

• Amount: $500
• Eligibility: High school students and 8th Graders of Bulgarian descent
• Application Requirements:
  • A 100-word response to “Каква е връзката ми с България?” (Имате ли родител, който е българин; изучавате или говорите български език,  живели ли сте ли България и т.н.)
  • A 350-word response in Bulgarian to the prompt: „Какво е за мен България?“
  • Current transcript (official or unofficial)
