XoroTroptzi – 2024 BACES GRANTS PROGRAM RECIPIENT
BACES is a proud supporter of all organizations and individuals who promote the rich and vibrant Bulgarian culture in California, and we look forward to further and greater collaborations with Bulgarian artists. This year, one of the BACES Grants Program recipients is the Bulgarian folk dance group XoroTroptzi.
XoroTroptzi is the largest Bulgarian folk dance group in California. Established in 2012, the group’s mission is to preserve, protect and popularize the rich cultural traditions of Bulgarian folk dancing. Since its inception, the group has aimed at promoting Bulgarian culture throughout California and the United States. In December 2023, XoroTroptzi were invited and performed at the 64th Annual L.A. County Holiday celebration.
On November 16, 2024, XoroTroptzi held their second Bulgarian Folk Festival in Los Angeles. BACES through the organization’s Grants Program was one of the major financial supporters of the festival, which sold out weeks in advance. The event featured performances by XoroTroptzi’s main ensemble as well as performances by their youth and children’s groups.
In addition, the festival featured guest appearance by three folk dance groups from San Diego – Dilmana, Dilmana – Kids, and Trite Puti, as well as Bulgare, a Bulgarian folk dance group from San Francisco.
Finally, after promoting the Bulgarian culture from coast to coast for over a decade, this year, Xorotroptzi debuted their newly formed musical ensemble, XoroSvirci.
